Forget the Patch

If you read our recent article on hypnotherapy (link) as a method of quitting combustible cigarettes, you already know there are some pretty wacky ways to help people become smoke-free. Here, we’ve gathered 5 other less traditional methods of quitting.

If you don’t have a fear of needles, this could be the treatment for you! Research has shown that “smokers subjected to acupuncture were more than three times as likely to be tobacco-free six months to a year later.”

If you’d like to kick your habit while tripping out, scientific studies have shown that psychedelic mushrooms can not only make a houseplant look like a prancing fairy, but can help kick your smoking habit.

Make a deal or a bet

Baking Soda

We might opt for the hypnotists’ couch or a bag of shrooms over this one, but many people swear by the baking soda method of quitting. Every time you have a craving, simply mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a glass of water and rinse your mouth with it.

Hide your cigs, especially somewhere dirty

As the old saying goes, “out of sight, out of mind.” Many people find it useful to tuck their cigs away somewhere that’s hard to get to, which curbs the desire to smoke. This woman kept a single cigarette on top of the range hood in her kitchen so that the area and the cigarette itself were dirtier each time she went to take a puff.
