Eos Scientific, a dynamic and forward looking chemical testing lab in Essex, requires an experienced Analytical Chemist.

You will be based at our Little Warley site in Essex, and will work on ongoing testing of internal and external clients. Knowledge and experience in method development and validation is highly desirable. The site is not accessible to public transport; hence a full clean driving license is necessary.

A high-level of confidentiality is required in all areas of business, especially intellectual property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application of correct sample preparation methods to different raw materials and formulated products for analytical testing.
  • Be part of the analytical development team.
  • Sample preparation for ongoing GC-MS, HPLC, LC-MS and ICP-MS analysis of different samples in a variety of matrices.
  • Participate in non-routine analytical investigations related to customer complaints.
  • Assist a team of scientists in new product, method development and validation.
  • Work in accordance with ISO quality system.

Key Skills

  • Preferably qualified to a degree or MSc level in Chemistry or Life Sciences (knowledge of core chemistry is essential).
  • Practical analytical experience in an academic / commercial / industrial laboratory setting.
  • Some experience of sample preparation for GC, HPLC and ICP-MS will be desirable.
  • Ability to plan and methodically execute laboratory work.
  • Good level of research and report writing skills.
  • Good IT skills (including MS Outlook, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint).
  • Flexible approach and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrable experience in sample preparation and/or flavour formulation.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety issues as applied to analytical and flavour laboratories.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025, cGLP and cGMP.
