What are CBD oils?
CBD oils are probably one of the most adaptable products out there on the market. Equally effective as a standalone product or for combined uses, CBD oil has proven to be increasingly beneficial for a range of users.
CBD, or cannabidiol, is naturally sourced from the hemp plant. In order to get CBD oil, it is extracted from the plant and combined with a carrier oil, such as coconut and hemp seed oil.
It’s important to note that CBD oil does differ from hemp seed oil, which is also a popular product here in the UK. Whilst CBD oil is made from the leaves, flowers and stalks of the hemp plant, hemp oil is made purely from hemp seeds and contains relatively no CBD at all.
What are the benefits of CBD oils?
There are many benefits of CBD oils. As well as boasting an impressive track record for being easy to use and affordable, CBD oils also come packed with a host of properties which make it a great therapeutic option for a range of consumers. Some of the main benefits of CBD oils include:
Relief from anxiety
Products containing CBD have been being utilised to manage anxiety and promote relaxation for many years. Cannabidiol oil is one such product that has been used to help manage anxiety through its ability to work alongside our endocannabinoid system (ECS) to improve both feelings of anxiety as well as relieving the side effects of it too.
Perhaps one of the most well-researched uses for CBD oil, the cannabinoid has been used to relieve symptoms of general pain, as well as pain as a result of an underlying condition for a number of years. When taken correctly, it is possible that CBD oil has the potential to reduce inflammation, relieving symptoms of pain and for some can offer a preferred alternative to medication which comes with its own list of negative side effects.
Here in the UK, we have had the first CBD based medication approved for use in certain rare cases of childhood epilepsy known as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut sundrome. This medical breakthrough is directly linked to the proven anti-seizure properties of CBD oil and the potential it holds for future uses.
Although much more research is needed, there are studies out there which highlight CBD oils potential as a neuroprotective. In the U.S. Cannabidiol oil has been patented as a neuroprotective, and it has shown promise in the treatment of conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
From its deeply relaxing properties to its ability to relieve aches and pains, it’s clear to see why CBD oil has become such a prominent part of the CBD industry in recent years. However, it is important to note that we do not promote the use of CBD oil or any other CBD product as a replacement for prescribed medication.
What strength CBD oil do I need?
CBD oils come in a range of strengths measured in milligrams and percentages. If you’re trying CBD oil for the first time, knowing what strength to opt for is crucial to achieving the perfect CBD experience.
It’s important to note that even those who have been consuming CBD oil for many months find it difficult to pin down their "ideal" strength and it often requires a lot of trial and error.
CBD oil strengths will come in either mg or as a percentage, which can make things seem more complex. The good news is it doesn’t have to be. Any reputable CBD oil brand will include the strength or concentration on the packaging or bottle. Usually this will be displayed as an amount in mg and can range from 150mg up to 2000mg.
Alternatively, a percentage amount may be displayed to show the CBD oil concentration instead. Even so, it’s important to know that the two mean the same. For example, see below:
As a typical rule of thumb, strengths up to 500mg are considered mild and best for beginners, whilst CBD oil strengths between 500-1000mg are more standard. Above 1000mg is considered a strong dose. If you are using CBD oil for the first time, regardless of the benefits you’re seeking to get, we advise starting lower and working up if you feel you need a stronger dose.
Safety precautions for CBD oils
The first question for many new users is are CBD oils safe. The good news about CBD oils in the UK is that they are perfectly safe for consumption when used appropriately and as advised. It is still important to note that over-consumption of CBD oil can lead to some unpleasant side effects including dizziness, nausea, lethargy and extreme tiredness. As is the case with all CBD products, responsible consumption is crucial.
To ensure you get the very best out of your CBD oil experience, here are a few tips to consider:
- Always shop around for the best brands
- Always check the list of ingredients and ensure strengths are properly labeled
- See if lab reports showing the THC and CBD amounts are available
- Only purchase your CBD oil from reputable sources
- Always start off with a low dose of CBD oil if you are new or unsure of how much is best
CBD oil law in the UK
CBD oil UK law is pretty straight-forward. The easy to follow UK CBD oil regulations allow consumers who may be new to the product a certain peace of mind. However, to ensure you are complying with UK law when consuming CBD oil, it is always important to ensure you are purchasing from a respectable seller.
Here at Vapemate, we appreciate that high-quality, safe CBD oils are of paramount importance. It is for this reason that all of our CBD oils are UK regulated and thoroughly tested before they are made available to you. This is also the case for our other products, including our CBD edibles and CBD skincare range.
In accordance with UK law, every bottle of CBD oil we sell contains less than 0.2% THC (which is the cannabinoid known for its psychoactive properties). We ensure each brand we work with follow strict testing guidelines to comply with this also. This way, we can always ensure you receive safe CBD oil of the highest standard, offering the best value for money. If you’d prefer no THC at all, we recommend browsing our CBD Isolates range.
