How to mix a shortfill e-liquid

Mixing your shortfill e-liquid with nicotine shots is quick and easy. Thanks to the space left on top of your 80% full bottle, there's plenty of room to add your shot directly into the bottle. If you're wondering how to open a shortfill bottle, it's typically as simple as just popping the cap off. No mess and no fuss. Once you've poured your nicotine shot into the bottle, all you'll need to do is make sure everything is blended properly.

To do this, simply stick the cap back on and shake the bottle vigorously for ten seconds or so. That's all it takes to mix your shot and shortfill together thoroughly. Don't forget to re-shake the bottle if you decide to add another shot later. If you want to ensure you're getting the right amount of nicotine in your shortfill, some additional maths is required.

Assuming you have an 80ml shortfill bottle, two 15mg nicotine shots with 10ml of liquid each (30mg in total) will equate to 3mg in the mixed 100ml liquid. You can apply the same formula to any bottle you use. Here's another example: 100ml shortfill + 2x 10ml 15mg nic shots = 120ml e-liquid with 2.5mg nicotine.

How do you increase the nicotine strength of a shortfill?

The best way to enhance the nicotine strength of a shortfill is by switching up what kind of nic shot you use. Most people have a personal preference for nicotine, but that doesn't mean you can't experiment with the different options out there.

For example, you can get nicotine shots in low nicotine percentages and medium or high percentages within the same range. If you already have a shortfill bottle with nicotine mixed in, one possibility is to add another shot of nicotine to enhance the strength of your e-liquid.

However, it's essential to consider how much liquid you've already used from the bottle as well as how much nicotine is already in there to decide how much more you should add.

Using our online calculator is an excellent way to ensure you're adding the right amount based on your current ml as well as the strength of the new shot.

Which nic shot should I use with my shortfill?

The nicotine shots you choose for your shortfill liquid depends entirely on your personal preference. The benefit of shortfill is that it's fully customisable to your style and taste preferences. You also get complete freedom over the strength of nicotine you pick. Unlike 10ml bottles, you don't have to sacrifice flavour for percentage or vice-versa. As the flavour is in the shortfill and the nicotine is separate, you can create the ideal mix you're for your personal usage.

The options for nicotine shots on the market include:

Standard nicotine shots

These are the typical 'everyday' shots and are available in a range of strengths to suit your individual preferences. If you're looking to try shortfill for the first time or you already know you like the standard e-liquids on the market, then a typical nic shot is likely to be a good fit for you.

High VG mixes

Nicotine shots with high VG mixes of 80:20 instead of 70:30 can be used to improve the clouds you create from vaping. It also results in a far smoother feel when vaping, which appeals to users who prefer something that is still strong by but feels less harsh.

Nicotine salts

Nicotine salts are a faster-acting kind of nicotine, giving a quicker hit. In addition, Nic salts often come in higher strengths and can work well with shortfill in many cases. So if you're looking to improve strength while else getting a faster rush, nicotine salts are a good option for you.

What vape kits can shortfill eliquids be used with?

If you're investing in a vape kit to use shortfill, sub-ohm vape kits are an excellent combination. This is because this particular style of vape is most suited to the consistency of shortfill. However, if you're looking for an extremely low nicotine strength in your shortfill – which gives it less of a thick consistency – you may be able to use this e-liquid with MTL kits as well.
